STRADELLA ROAD
Architect: SE5 Architects
Client: Private
We are frequently involved in the design of ground support measures to enable open excavation, top down construction and the formation of basements under existing structures.
This example in South London comprises a new basement under a Victorian house. The rear of the house was demolished to provide construction access and to enable an exercise pool to be craned in prior to building over.
The new stair down to the basement features oak treads hung from a toughened glass balustrade. The balustrade itself is supported at ground floor level and extends up to meet the original stair above.
